Midshipmen formed the 14th fastest team in the world to solve the Rubik's Cube in the online Cubefreak challenge this month, with a time of 1 minute, 11 seconds. The fastest team? University of California at Berkeley, with a time of 48 seconds.
Each midshipmen had to solve their own cube riddle, then tag their teammate who then began his own. The time was tracked on an iPad that was shuffled down the table between each contestant. After four were complete, they read the final time and cheered.
A total of 41 institutions and eight countries competed in Cubefreak, and midshipmen were 14th.
