Navy Sweeps Delaware 51-7 in Home Opener
Midshipmen swept the field Saturday in their most well-attended home game ever.
A crowd of more than 36,000—the largest of any home game at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium—packed the seats hours in advance of the game to witness the spectacle.
At six minutes into the first half, Darius Staten set the tone of the game with the first touchdown. The midshipmen tore 53 yards down the field during the first quarter.
But the play of the game was a 63-yard touchdown from DeBrandon Sanders, who caught from quarterback Keenan Reynolds.
The Capital-Gazette reported that Reynolds has the most passing yards by a Navy quarterback since 2000.
The Midshipmen will next play Western Kentucky on Sept. 28 for their third game of the season.
