UPDATE: Police Say Pedestrian Hit, Killed on Ritchie Highway Was at Fault

UPDATED at 2:25 p.m.

A pedestrian who was killed crossing a busy road in Glen Burnie early Friday morning was likely at fault in the accident, police said Friday afternoon.

Anne Arundel County police and fire crews were called to southbound Ritchie Highway near Marley Station Road in around 4:30 a.m. after getting reports of a crash.

The preliminary investigation reveals the pedestrian, Gilbert Gabriel Buchacz Jr., 60, of Annapolis, was crossing southbound on Ritchie Highway where no pedestrian control devices are located.

Buchacz was struck by a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by John Melvin Agro, 58, of Glen Burnie.

The primary cause of this crash is pedestrian error, police said. Excessive speed and alcohol are not factors in the crash.

Buchacz was taken to a local hospital, where he died.
