Sailboat Catches Fire In Annapolis: Officials

A docked sailboat caught fire in Annapolis over the weekend, officials said.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Officials said a sailboat caught fire in Eastport early Sunday morning. The approximately 40-foot-long vessel was docked at the end of a pier on Back Creek, an incident report added.

Crews noted that they heard word of the fire in the 300 block of Chester Avenue around 12:27 a.m. Firefighters reported finding heavy smoke coming from the cabin. First responders added that the flames stemmed from the engine compartment area.

A team of 36 firefighters controlled the flames in about 30 minutes, a press release informed. The Annapolis Fire Department did not report any injuries.
