UPDATE: Boyfriend Dies in Murder-Suicide Shooting That Killed Glen Burnie Woman

BREAKING: A man charged with killing his 18-year-old Glen Burnie girlfriend has also died, Anne Arundel County Police said Sunday.

UPDATED at 6:40 p.m. Sunday GLEN BURNIE, MD — A Baltimore man charged with murder for allegedly shooting his teenage girlfriend to death and then attempting suicide by shooting himself died on Sunday, according to Anne Arundel County Police.

The slain girlfriend is Kayla Yow, 18, of the 400 block of Glen Mar Road in Glen Burnie, and her suspected killer is Da'von Markell Mullins, 22, of the 6900 block of Reisterstown Road in Baltimore. Police went to Yow's apartment Friday night after they received a 911 call from a family member of Mullins asking authorities to check on him. The caller said Mullins had sent several worrisome text messages.

The family member did not know which apartment was Yow's, so officers went door to door searching for Mullins and contacted other people he knew. Eventually police located Yow's apartment and entered to find Yow body's in the living room, with apparent upper body trauma. Mullins, also suffering from upper body trauma, was found in the unit with a handgun at the scene.

Paramedics confirmed Yow was dead at the scene. Mullins was taken to an area hospital in critical condition Saturday; police announced Mullins' death from an apparently self-inflicted gunshot wound late Sunday afternoon.

Investigators say Yow and Mullins had been in a relationship and the shootings were an apparent homicide-attempted suicide. Yow’s body was taken to the Office of Chief Medical Examiner, where an autopsy will be conducted to determine the cause and manner of her death.

Homicide detectives had obtained an arrest warrant for Mullins charging him with murder and related crimes.
