Police Fired Upon in Lansdowne

An unmarked vehicle was struck by a bullet, but no officers were hurt in early Sunday morning incident, according to police.

Police Fired Upon in Lansdowne

Baltimore County police officers were the target of gunfire early Sunday morning while on a plainclothes burglary enforcement detail in Lansdowne, authorities said.

At around 3:30 on June 24, three officers in an unmarked vehicle approached the intersection of Lorena and Smith avenues where they saw four suspicious people, police said.

As the vehicle approached the intersection, at least one of the people opened fire at the officers, Baltimore County police spokesperson Elise Armacost said.

The vehicle was struck by at least one bullet, but none of the officers was injured, according to police.

It is not known whether the suspects knew that the vehicle contained plainclothes police officers.

The detail was aimed at addressing a spate of burglaries in the Lansdowne area, according to police.

The incident is being investigated, Armacost said.
