Car Carrier Fire On I-95 Express Toll Lanes Jams Traffic

BREAKING: There are backups on Interstate 95 north of the Fort McHenry Tunnel Thursday from a vehicle fire.

BALTIMORE, MD โ€” Traffic is snarled on Interstate 95 north past the Fort McHenry Tunnel Thursday evening due to a vehicle fire.

Two lanes of I-95 north are closed near the exit for US 40, and traffic on the Express Toll Lanes on I-95 north is being redirected, transportation officials say.

The fire broke out after 5 p.m. on I-95 north in the area of mile marker 61, on the Express Toll Lanes, transportation officials advised.

A car carrier burst into flames on the Express Toll Lanes, according to the White Marsh Volunteer Fire Company, which responded to the incident and shared photos from the scene:

As a result of the fire, the Express Toll Lanes were closed to traffic headed north, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported.

Traffic on I-95 north in the area was slow due to the lane closures and police and fire activity.
