Police Say Missing Teacher Found Dead In Vehicle

Police said Gregory Ferrell was located in his vehicle on West Baltimore Street.

BALTIMORE, MD — A teacher who has been missing since before the new year was located deceased, police reported on Saturday, Jan. 13. An autopsy will provide information about the man's cause and manner of death, according to authorities.

Gregory Dean Ferrell, 56, was found in his vehicle around 4 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, police said. Ferrell's Mazda CX-7 had dark tinted windows and was legally parked in the 1900 block of West Baltimore Street when he was found, officials said.

"Tragically, Gregory Dean Ferrell was pronounced dead at the scene by medics," police said in a statement. "Detectives did not observe any obvious signs of trauma or foul play."

Police said that Ferrell was last seen on Dec. 29, 2017. He had been leaving Melba's Place in the 3100 block of Greenmount Avenue.

He was a teacher at Monarch Academy, where WBAL reported he was well-liked and the school would provide support for students. Monarch Academy is a public charter school on Kirk Avenue.

Ferrell's body will be transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
