A man is in police custody Sunday evening after he reportedly threatened his girlfriend with a gun, according to the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
At 7:09 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to a domestic incident on the 900 block of Cedar Crest Court North and heard a shot fired, said Edward Hopkins, spokesman for the Harford County Sheriff's Office.
Officers set up a perimeter and ensured people either evacuated the building or were safely sheltered inside, Hopkins said.
The special response team from the sheriff's office was called in to assist, Hopkins said.
At 8 p.m., the suspect walked out of the apartment and was taken into custody, said Hopkins, who added that it is unclear what happened.
Hopkins said after 9 p.m. Sunday that the man was being questioned by deputies.
The suspect's girlfriend was unharmed, Hopkins said.
According to Hopkins, police cleared the scene at 8:45 p.m.
