Hours After Vehicle Fire Near Joppa, Interstate 95 Reopens
Traffic was backed up on Interstate 95 in Harford County Sunday for hours due to a vehicle fire.
HARFORD COUNTY, MD — A vehicle fire on Interstate 95 caused 10 hours of lane closures in Harford County. The blaze occurred on I-95 south of Joppa before 6 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 18.
The fire broke out on I-95 south past the exit for MD 152 near mile marker 72.1, according to authorities. One vehicle was involved, officials said.
All lanes had reopened by 4 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19.

For the first two hours after the fire, traffic was getting by in the left lane only.
Then the two left lanes and left shoulder were open, while the right lanes and right shoulder remained closed after 8 p.m.

Crews worked for several hours to clean up debris, the Maryland Transportation Authority reported.
