Beltsville Pedestrian Dies in Hit-And-Run Accident
Maryland State Police are investigating a Prince George's County fatal crash early Thursday morning.

BELTSVILLE, MD — Charges are pending against a pickup truck driver who allegedly fled the scene of a fatal pedestrian collision Thursday, authorities say.
Just after midnight, a 2015 GMC pickup truck with a snowplow on the front was northbound on US Route 1 in Beltsville, approaching Naples Avenue. The pickup struck a pedestrian and left the area, according to Maryland State Police.
The pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene. He was identified as Salvador Jeremias R. Loza, 51, of Beltsville.

A lookout was broadcast with the vehicle’s description given by several witnesses. Laurel City Police Department stopped a vehicle matching the description and a witness verified the vehicle was involved in the fatal crash.
Investigators say there is no indication that alcohol or drugs were a factor in the collision. Authorities noted it had been snowing at the time of the accident.
