Bowie Man Injures State Trooper in I-97 Crash

A Maryland State Police trooper is in stable condition at Maryland Shock Trauma after a Bowie man, who was allegedly driving drunk, struck his patrol car on the side of Interstate 97 Wednesday morning, state police said.

Sargeant Eddie White of the state police barracks in Glen Burnie said police arrested a 43-year-old man from Bowie and charged him with driving under the influence.

White said Trooper Reginald Garrett was on the side of the road performing a routine patrol in his car when he was struck at about 3:28 a.m. Wednesday.

Garrett was rushed to Maryland Shock Trauma in Baltimore by ambulance with serious injuries.
