TD Bank will celebrate their new energy-efficient store in the Bowie Town Center with a grand opening on Saturday.

The bank is targeting LEED Silver certification based on its environmental performance in six areas — use of a sustainable site, low water usage, energy efficiency, use of recycled materials, indoor air quality, and its innovation and design, according to a press release issued by the bank.

Lisa Wallace, a 10-year Bowie resident, has been hired to manage the new location and the 10 to 15 employees, which TD Bank also plans to hire locally. Wallace has been working in the banking industry for more than 16 years, and has recently joined the Membership Development Committee of the Greater Bowie Chamber of Commerce, according to the release.

At the celebration, which is free and open to the public, attendees will be treated to free hot dogs, ice cream, and soft drinks; a DJ and a balloon artist; and the chance to win a $1,000 shopping spree. Pets are welcome at the event, and there will be treats on hand for furry friends.
