Teen Accidentally Shoots, Kills Man While Messing Around With a Gun: Police

Henry Reyes, 18, faces a charge of manslaughter and a weapons charge.

HYATTSVILLE, MD β€” A teenager who police say accidentally shot a man in Hyattsville while playing with a gun has been arrested on a charge of manslaughter.

Police were called to a local hospital at around 10:55 p.m. on Sept. 15 over a report of a walk-in shooting victim. The victim, 21-year-old Eulises Alvarado-Reyes, died a short time after getting to the hospital, according to a statement from the Prince George's County Police Department.

Police found that he had been shot in the 5000 block of 56th Place and was then taken to the hospital by witnesses. Police later arrested 18-year-old Henry Reyes, who faces a weapons charge and a charge of manslaughter.

"Preliminarily, it appears the suspect was handling a weapon which discharged and struck the victim," police said.
