UPDATED: Two Students Arrested After Bomb Threat Hoax at Parkdale High

Two juveniles were arrested in connection with a bomb threat at Parkdale High School Thursday, according to a Prince George's County Police statement.

Two students claimed to have been contacted by an individual who asked where he could find the principal, and if he did not receive that information, he would blow up the school with a bomb, according to the police statement.

The school was put on lockdown while police did a sweep of the school.

Detectives traced the bomb threat call to a cell phone belonging to one of the students, according the statement.

They were charged with false statement of a destructive device and conspiracy to commit a false statement of a destructive device, and they have been released to their parents on their own recognizance, according to the statement.

Patch went to the scene. Below is a play-by-play.

Update, 12:30 p.m.: is no longer on lockdown, after the school reported a suspicious person entering the building Thursday morning.

Students are back in their classrooms and the school day will be completed as scheduled.

Principal Cheryl Logan will distribute a letter to parents.

The letter states," On Thursday, October 27th, 2011 a bomb threat message was received. The building was locked down as a precautionary measure. As a result of an investigation conducted by the Prince George's County Police Department, it was determined that this was a prank by two students. Please note that these students were charged and arrested. In addition, the students face expulsion.

Please accept our assurances that we are following approved safety procedures whenever a threat of any kind is received. Our foremost concern is the safety of your children and our staff while at Parkdale High School."
