Fire at Clarksville Auto Parts Business Under Investigation

Vehicles, flammable gas containers, tires and other materials were on fire when Howard County crews arrived.

Fire behind a Clarksville auto parts business Saturday afternoon has drawn approximately 70 firefighters and state environmental officials to contain the situation, authorities say.

Crews from Howard and Montgomery counties responded to the 12000 block of Hall Shop Road at noon for a report of a fire and found flammable gas containers, tires, vehicles and waste fuel ablaze, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services.

Within approximately half an hour, crews brought the fire under control, the department reported.

Firefighters remained at the scene Saturday for extended overhaul, and Maryland Department of the Environment responded to help contain hazardous runoff, the report said.

Nobody was injured in the blaze, and the cause and origin are under investigation, officials report.
