House Fire Erupts in Vacant House in Cooksville: Officials
Crews from multiple counties battled fire in Cooksville Saturday morning, Howard officials said.
COOKSVILLE, MD ā A house fire broke out Saturday morning in Cooksville, where firefighters spent several hours clearing the scene, according to the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue officials.
Nobody was injured, and first responders determined the house was vacant, authorities reported.
Crews responded just after midnight to a home in the 2100 block of MD Route 97 for a possible house fire and saw fire showing from the second floor of the three-story house when they arrived, officials said.

Heavy fire met first responders on the second floor and attic, and it took about one hour for crews to bring the fire under control, authorities reported.
Carroll, Frederick and Montgomery county firefighters teamed up with Howard to help secure the scene, according to the report.

Once they brought the fire under control, firefighters spent another three hours checking for hot spots in walls and ceilings due to the way the building was constructed, officials said.
Investigators said they were still trying to determine the cause and origin of the fire.
