Pedestrian Killed on Route 1 in Jessup: Police
A woman was killed, driver uninjured after crash early Friday morning, the Howard County Police Department said.

JESSUP, MD — A pedestrian was killed Friday morning on Washington Boulevard in Jessup, where the road was closed for two hours for investigation, according to the Howard County Police Department.
Sandra Nimeth Avila Carrera, 52, of Savage, was hit on southbound Washington Boulevard at approximately 2 a.m., police said.
Carrera was walking in the road near MD 32 when she was hit by a 2010 Ford F-150, officials reported. She was pronounced deceased after being taken to Howard County General Hospital, according to authorities.

Police said the driver of the truck — Brian Keith Esser, 54, of Jessup — was not injured.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing, according to police, who said charges have not been filed.

After 4 a.m., the road had reopened.
