Tractor-Trailer Fire Temporarily Closed Route 100

BREAKING: A tractor-trailer caught fire on eastbound MD 100 Thursday morning, according to Howard County fire and rescue personnel.

HOWARD COUNTY, MD — One person was hospitalized after a tractor-trailer fire that closed MD 100 Thursday morning in Howard County, according to officials. By 8:36 a.m., police said one lane had reopened on eastbound Route 100.

The tractor-trailer blaze occurred on eastbound Route 100 past Long Gate Parkway after 8 a.m., officials said.

Firefighters and Maryland State Police responded to the scene, the Howard County Department of Fire and Rescue Services reported.

According to authorities, the driver was able to escape, and by 8:15 a.m., the fire was declared under control.

The fire was out and one person taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries that were not believed to be life-threatening, officials reported before 8:25 a.m.

Route 100 was closed between Long Gate Parkway and Executive Park Drive for the emergency response, according to police, who said that after 8:30 a.m., one lane was open.
