What's that in the Sky? Rocket Launch Tuesday Evening (Visibility Map)

Rocket toward space station should be visible from Columbia, according to NASA.

If you didn’t realize that there was a rocket launch scheduled Monday night that would have been visible from our area, this is your lucky day. It’s been rescheduled for Tuesday night.

Observers across the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast looked up in the sky Monday night and kept looking after the launch of the Antares rocket from NASA’s Wallops Flight Facility on the Virginia coast was scrubbed due to a boat drifting into the launch hazard area.

So, the launch has been pushed to Tuesday night at 6:22 p.m., according to NASA.

We’ve posted a visibility map below. You can also find it here. NASA also has specific viewing maps for sites in Virginia, New Jersey and Maryland.

The Antares rocket will carry an Orbital Science cargo spacecraft heading to the International Space Station. On board: 5,000 pounds of supplies and experiments.
