Some cooling centers open as temperatures reach dangerous levels Friday. Temps stay in the 90s next week. Latest forecast here.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Steamy. Many kids returned to school this week but it's still summer in Maryland, and Friday afternoon's expected combo of heat and humidity means the heat index, or "feels like" temperature across the region could hit 103 degrees.
The heat index is expected to hit 103 degrees by 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. Temperatures will drop only to a sticky 77 degrees by 5 a.m. Saturday.
The hot weather prompted Annapolis city officials to designate the Pip Moyer Recreation Center as a cooling center for the community until 6 p.m. Friday.
