Maryland Weather: Sunny By Sunday

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather statement for parts of Maryland Friday. Then the weekend weather takes a turn.

The showers soaking Maryland on Friday will take a break for the weekend, so keep those outdoor plans if you made them. The National Weather Service is forecasting a dry Saturday and Sunday, with rain possibly returning Monday and Tuesday.

Friday's rain will stick around until about 11 p.m., according to the National Weather Service, which states that thunderstorms are possible around midday and rain may be heavy at times.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather statement indicating that areas around the Chesapeake Bay and Potomac River may experience localized flooding Friday.

Here's a snapshot of the weekend weather picture:

Friday: The high is in the upper 50s. Showers all day, with thunderstorms possible before 2 p.m. The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather statement indicating that localized flooding as well as severe thunderstorms accompanied by damaging winds and large hail are possible. The threat mainly applies to southern Maryland but central counties near water including Anne Arundel, Harford and Prince George's may be impacted. Temperatures will drop to the high 40s as evening comes around. Rain continues until at least 11 p.m.

Saturday: Skies will be overcast. Daytime temps are projected to be in the 50s, dipping to the low 40s at night.

Sunday: Hello, sunshine! Mostly sunny skies are in the forecast, and so are temperatures in the low 60s. Evening temps will be in the mid 40s.

The work week will start off with a 40 percent chance of rain during the day Monday and 80 percent chance of rain in the evening, so it is a tossup whether it will be a wet opening day for the Orioles and the Nationals. There's a 70 percent chance of rain Tuesday.
