Ex-Raven Michael Oher Accused Of Assaulting Uber Driver
Former Ravens offensive lineman Michael Oher, subject of 'The Blind Side,' is charged with pushing and kicking an Uber driver.
NASHVILLE, TN — Former Baltimore Raven Michael Oher is reportedly scheduled to appear in Tennessee court on Monday due to assault charges.
According to an affidavit, Oher and some friends were headed to a restaurant in Nashville last month when Oher, suspicious the driver was trying to secure a higher fare, began arguing with him. Eventually, Oher and his friends changed their minds and decided to go to a comedy club instead.
When they arrived, Oher and the driver continued to argue; the driver put his hands in Oher's face; Oher pushed the driver down and kicked him; and Oher's friends restrained him, according to the affidavit.

The driver said that Oher kicked him in the leg, according to WJZ.
Oher faces a misdemeanor charge of assault and is scheduled to be booked Monday, May 8. The Carolina Panthers issued a no-comment statement.

Oher's story — born into poverty in Memphis, he was eventually accepted into a private high school and was adopted by a wealthy family, then played football at Ole Miss — became nationally known due to the book The Blind Side by Michael Lewis and movie based on the book starring Tim McGraw as Oher's adoptive mother.

Oher was drafted by the Baltimore Ravens and after five years there, signed with the Tennessee Titans, who released him after one season due to a failed physical. He has spent much of his time with Carolina on injured reserve.
