Maryland Weekend Weather: Steamy, Stormy Start To The Weekend

Friday and Saturday will see periods of rain and storms, but the weekend will end with a beautiful, dry Sunday.

The good news is it's Friday. The bad news is Storm Cindy is still brewing. Maryland residents should expect on and off periods of rain until Saturday night.

Friday afternoon and night will bring steamy, humid weather with the occasional rain and storms. Possible isolated or scattered showers and storms will pop up Friday afternoon into the evening.

The National Weather Service issued a hazardous weather warning for the Maryland portion of the Chesapeake Bay, Tidal Potomac River, and adjacent counties in central Maryland. Residents should expect heavy rain capable of producing localized flooding Friday night. There is also the potential for isolated severe thunderstorms this afternoon through tonight.

Saturday will see heavier rain and some storms in the morning. The skies will clear by the afternoon with high temperatures likely to reach the mid-80s in the afternoon. Saturday night should be clear, with only a very small chance of isolated showers.

The weekend will end with a beautiful, dry Sunday. Expect highs in the mid-80s. Wear sunscreen!

Friday Afternoon: Isolated showers and thunderstorms after 3pm. Partly sunny, with a high near 88. Southwest wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Friday Night: Scattered showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after midnight. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Low around 74. Southwest wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Saturday: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before noon, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms, mainly between noon and 3pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. High near 89. West wind 10 to 14 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 66. West wind 5 to 9 mph.

Sunday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 83. West wind 6 to 9 mph.

Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 61.

Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 80.
