Baltimore City Paper To Shutter
The 40-year-old weekly paper for Baltimore will cease publication, City Paper announced.

BALTIMORE, MD - The weekly publication that has offered complimentary news about Baltimore culture since 1977 will cease publication by the end of the year, City Paper's editor said in a statement Friday.
The Baltimore Sun Media Group, which purchased City Paper in 2014, reportedly cited declining ad revenue in the decision to close at an undetermined point in 2017.
Previous owner Times-Shamrock put the weekly up for sale along with others in its portfolio in 2013, stating that another owner was needed to usher in the next phase of growth.

Current City Paper Editor Brandan Soderberg says there is still the possibility that another buyer will scoop up the weekly, stating: "A city without a paper like City Paper is a lesser city...to anyone out there who likes what we do and wants to keep it around: Buy us."
