Hazmat Crews Give All-Clear At Social Security Administration Building

Multiple buildings were evacuated due to a suspicious package at the Social Security Administration in Woodlawn Friday, authorities said.

WOODLAWN, MD - A suspicious package reported at the Social Security Administration building put the campus on alert for more than an hour Friday morning, Baltimore County public safety officials said. Three buildings were evacuated at the campus in Woodlawn as a precaution after a questionable package was received, according to officials.

Authorities said they were dispatched at 9:53 a.m. to the mail room in the 1500 Woodlawn Drive for a report of a suspicious package.

One person was being evaluated as a result, and no injuries were reported, authorities said.

Baltimore County hazmat crews investigated and reported after 11:30 a.m. that the suspicious substance was deemed inert and officials were clearing the scene.
