BCPS Parent University Courses For February 2018

Events for parents at Baltimore County Public Schools range from behavior management to college savings.

February is a great time to warm up to the many programs, events, and activities of Baltimore County Public Schools’ Parent University and its community partners. Not only are they informative and interesting, the programs are designed to aid parents and caregivers in better supporting the academic success of their children.

Among the highlights on the Parent University calendar this month are:

· Free Parent Workshops at the Special Education Resource Center – The Special Education Resource Center at White Oak School will hold a series of free parent workshops to help parents with specific strategies that have been proven successful for children with special needs. To register, email SERC@bcps.org or call 410-887-5443. All workshops will be held from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at the White Oak School, 8401 Leefield Rd., 21234.

· Maple Sugaring Weekends with the Oregon Ridge Nature Center Speaker Series – The Oregon Ridge Nature Center will host a speaker series on a wide range of nature-related subjects, including maple sugar harvesting for the last two weekends in February. · Maryland 529 College Savings Parent Information Nights – Maryland 529 and Parent University will host two of five parent information sessions this winter where parents can learn how to save for their children’s college education. Registration is not required.
