Traffic Alert For Baltimore March For Our Lives

The March for Our Lives Baltimore may result in temporary traffic holds around the Inner Harbor, city transportation officials advise.

BALTIMORE, MD — There may be extra traffic in downtown Baltimore Saturday morning around City Hall and the Inner Harbor, particularly on Pratt Street, Baltimore Department of Transportation officials advise. Police and traffic enforcement officers will be posted around the route for the Baltimore March for Our Lives, which is expected to draw hundreds of people, many of them students, from City Hall to Little Havana.

The march is slated to run from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, March 24.

Marchers are expected to walk from Holliday Street to Commerce Street to Pratt Street to Key Highway between 10:45 a.m. and noon. Drivers should watch for pedestrians and are advised to take alternate routes, according to Baltimore City transportation officials.

Prior to that, there will be extra activity around City Hall, which is one of eight spots where free buses are picking up students to take them to Washington, D.C. The city has helped coordinate free transportation so that thousands of students may participate in the March for Our Lives in the nation's capital.

Students will begin boarding the free buses at 8:45 a.m. and depart at 9:45 a.m at Baltimore's City Hall on Holliday Street.

At 10 a.m., March for Our Lives Baltimore happenings will begin in the area of War Memorial Plaza.

March for Our Lives Baltimore organizers say there will be a rally at War Memorial Plaza in front of City Hall from approximately 10 to 10:45 a.m., when speakers including students, teachers and city council members will deliver remarks.

Around 10:45 a.m., the March for Our Lives Baltimore will begin, taking participants from City Hall to Little Havana near the Baltimore Museum of Industry.

One lane will be closed off with cones along the march route, where possible, according to the Baltimore Department of Transportation.

Officials say there may be temporary traffic stops along the route to protect participants.

The March for Our Lives Baltimore route is as follows:

  • 100 Holliday Street to Commerce Street
  • Commerce Street right on Pratt Street
  • Pratt Street (pedestrians will be in the trolley lane) to Key Highway
  • Key Highway to Little Havana/Baltimore Museum of Industry area

Organizers of March for Our Lives Baltimore told Patch Friday night that more than 1,200 people are expected to participate in the roughly 1.6-mile march.
