Labor Day Closings In Baltimore County For 2018 Holiday
See what's open and closed for Labor Day in Baltimore County.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — This year, Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 3. Baltimore County has made several modifications for the holiday.
Trash pickup will not occur on Labor Day.
County government offices and courts will be closed on Monday, Sept. 3. The Baltimore County's Health Department clinics and senior centers will be closed, and CountyRide vans will not operate. All branches of the Baltimore County Public Library will be closed, and parking meters are free on the holiday.

Baltimore County offices and trash and recycling drop-off facilities, including Eastern Sanitary Landfill in White Marsh, will be closed on Monday, Sept. 3. All three trash drop-off facilities will be open with regular operating hours on Saturday, Sept. 1, and Tuesday, Sept. 4.

The holiday has transformed from an event pushed by unions to limit 70-hour work weeks. In 1894 President Grover Cleveland, looking to appease disgruntled workers in the wake of a railway union strike, signed a bill making it a holiday just days after the strike was broken.
