Maryland Weather: Will Snow Return To Forecast This Week?

Maryland's weather during the work week begins OK before taking a turn toward more traditional December weather, snow included.

BALTIMORE, MD — After a beautiful late fall day with mild temperatures, Maryland's weather for the week gets considerably colder, and the work week forecast even contains a certain four-letter word. The National Weather Service says snow could move into the region on Wednesday, although a big storm doesn't seem likely. And there are hints of frozen precip on the weekend, too.

Monday will see a high of 58 degrees, then high temperatures for the rest of the week will feel more like winter, dropping to the low-40s and even upper-30s for the rest of the week. Not only that, but per the Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang: "Can't rule out a flurry or snow shower Wednesday morning."

A cold front will move into the area Thursday night into early Friday. There won't be much
moisture with this system, with any chance of snow showers generally near/north of the Pennsylvania border and along the Allegheny Front, says the National Weather ServiceBaltimore/Washington office. Behind the front, high pressure out of Canada will bring colder and drier air into the region by Friday night.

Forecast models suggest a weekend storm coming up from the south could bring snow, ice and/or rain to the larger Washington, D.C., region, the Capital Weather Gang writes. It's way too soon to know, other predictors say it will remain to the south and miss the region.

The National Weather Service says the low pressure system approaching from the southern states would most likely affect Maryland by Saturday night and Sunday.
