Assault On Teacher: Loch Raven Student Charged

Police said the teacher who was assaulted Tuesday has serious injuries and a Loch Raven High School student was charged with four offenses.

TOWSON, MD — Police have identified the student accused of assaulting a teacher at Loch Raven High School Tuesday morning in Towson. He is being held without bail.

Geronimo Pacer Harding Jr., 18, of the 8600 block of Willow Oak Road, has been charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, disturbing school activities and threatening school personnel.

Police said Harding had been talking with a teacher who was sitting at his desk in his classroom when the teen became agitated and suddenly started punching the educator in the face.

The teacher was knocked to the ground, where authorities allege Harding continued hitting him in the face and torso.

It took the school resource officer and other teachers to restrain the student, according to officials, who said backup was called to Loch Raven High School at 8:38 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 29.

Although the teacher declined medical treatment at first, he was later treated at an area hospital for injuries that police described as "serious facial wounds."

Once Harding was arrested, police said he was taken to an area hospital as well.

After being charged, he was denied bail and is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center pending a bail review hearing.

Harding is slated to appear for a preliminary hearing in Baltimore County District Court on Feb. 22.
