MD General Assembly Upholds Minimum Wage Increase, Overrides Veto
Lawmakers in Annapolis voted to override Gov. Larry Hogan's veto of the minimum wage increase to $15 by 2025.

ANNAPOLIS, MD — Members of the Maryland General Assembly voted to override the veto of Gov. Larry Hogan on the minimum wage. As a result, the minimum wage in Maryland will increase to $15 an hour by 2025.
The legislature approved the increase last week, but Hogan vetoed the bill phasing the increased minimum wage in over the next several years. He has opposed the measure as harmful to the Maryland economy, noting that nearby states have lower minimum wages, such as the $7.25 an hour minimum wage in Virginia.
The Maryland General Assembly voted to override Hogan's veto on Thursday, March 28.

The minimum wage will increase to $11 in January 2020 then increase 75 cents a year to $14 in 2024, and reach $15 in 2025, according to WJLA, which reports Maryland joins DC, New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, California and Illinois in raising the minimum wage to $15 an hour.
Just a few years ago we were told a $15 an hour was “too radical.” Well, today, Maryland became the sixth state to send the loud and clear message that a job should lift you out of poverty, not keep you in it.
We're not done. Next we will pass a national $15 minimum wage. https://t.co/lSOMcBwLfX
