Severe Thunderstorm Warning Extended In Baltimore Metro Area
Do not drive through wooded areas until the storm has passed, weather officials advise. Go to an interior room if possible.
BALTIMORE — A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 3:15 p.m. for parts of the Baltimore metro area. Baltimore City, Baltimore County and Anne Arundel County are under the warning on Thursday, Aug. 1.
A severe thunderstorm was detected before 2:30 p.m. over Brooklyn Park and was moving southeast at 10 mph. Radar indicated there may be 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, according to the warning.
During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to stay safe and move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.
These areas may be impacted, according to the warning: Baltimore, Glen Burnie, Dundalk, Catonsville, Pasadena, Arbutus, Ferndale, Brooklyn Park, Pumphrey, Linthicum, Edgemere, Lansdowne, Halethorpe, Turners Station and Linthicum Heights.

EXPIRED — Earlier, a severe thunderstorm was detected at 2:08 p.m. over Baltimore and was moving southeast at 15 mph, officials said. These areas may be impacted, the National Weather Service warned: Baltimore, Middle River, North Point State Park, Back River, Millers Island, Dundalk, Essex, Parkville, Carney, Perry Hall, Rosedale, Rossville, White Marsh, Bowleys Quarters, Edgemere, Nottingham, Fort Howard, Fullerton, Eastpoint and Martin State Airport.
EXPIRED — Parts of Harford and Baltimore counties and Baltimore City are under a severe thunderstorm warning until 2:15 p.m.
Radar detected a severe thunderstorm over Rossville near Middle River at 1:38 p.m. that was moving southeast at 5 mph, forecasters said.
There may be 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-sized hail, according to the warning.
