Severe Thunderstorm Warning For Anne Arundel, PG, Baltimore
There was a severe thunderstorm warning in effect.
With potentially damaging winds bearing down on the region, the National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm warning for Anne Arundel, Baltimore and Prince George's counties. The warning is effective until 11:30 p.m. Thursday.
Severe thunderstorms were on a line from Sparrows Point in Baltimore County to Woodmore in Prince George's County after 10:40 p.m., and they were moving east at 45 mph, according to officials.
Radar indicated 60 mph wind gusts, which could cause trees and large branches to fall. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.

These areas may be impacted, according to the warning: Baltimore, Bowie, Severn, Annapolis, Clinton, Crofton, Middle River, Fort Washington, Riviera Beach, Forestville, Largo, Coral
Hills, Mayo, Shady Side, Naval Academy, National Harbor, Upper Marlboro, Fort Smallwood State Park, Gibson Island and Sillery Bay.
During the severe thunderstorm warning period, people should go inside to stay safe and move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building.

Do not drive underneath wooded areas until the threat has passed, as trees and branches may fall. Roads may become blocked by downed trees, and localized power outages are possible, according to the warning.
A tornado watch remains in effect until midnight, officials warned.
"Remain alert for a possible tornado! Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms," the severe thunderstorm warning said. "If you spot a tornado go at once into the basement or small central room in a sturdy structure. For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building."
