Other economic initiatives rolled out in 2019 included Floor & Decor, a specialty retailer of hard surface flooring and related accessories, opening a distribution center, Volvo, a vehicle manufacturer, invested $43 million in its business and Amazon, an e-commerce mecca company, opened a fulfillment center. Phillips Foods, Inc., a seafood company, announced in September that it would begin producing soup once again in Maryland for the first time in seven years. The company shared that it also would begin producing grocery products at the Maryland site in Baltimore County.

"2019 brought tremendous job growth and Maryland's lowest unemployment rate in over a decade. We expect to build on this progress in 2020 and anticipate continued growth in key industry sectors such as cybersecurity, biotechnology, manufacturing and logistics," Daniel Leaderman with the state department of commerce told Patch.
