Second Baltimore County Resident Dies From Coronavirus: Officials

A Baltimore County man died from the new coronavirus, according to the Maryland Department of Health.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — After 13 deaths were reported in the past day across Maryland from the new coronavirus, officials said one was a Baltimore County resident. This is the second person who lives in Baltimore County to die from the COVID-19, the disease caused by the virus.

Both Baltimore County residents to die from the illness were men in their 60s, authorities said.

In Maryland, officials say 31 people have lost their lives to coronavirus as of Wednesday, more than double what the death toll was on Monday, when had 15 died statewide from the illness.

State health officials identified the 13 people whose deaths were reported Wednesday as follows:

  • Baltimore County man in his 60s
  • Anne Arundel County woman over 80
  • Anne Arundel County man in his 70s
  • Calvert County man in his 50s
  • Carroll County woman in her 60s
  • Carroll County man in his 70s
  • Carroll County man in his 70s
  • Frederick County man in his 70s
  • Frederick County woman over 80
  • Montgomery County man in his 70s
  • Montgomery County man in his 70s
  • Montgomery County man over 80
  • Prince George's County man in his 60s

Officials say 1,985 people in Maryland have tested positive for the virus as of Wednesday, including 239 people in Baltimore County.

A Prince George's County man in his 60s with an underlying medical condition was the first Marylander to die from the virus, officials reported March 18.

Two days later, a man in his 60s from Baltimore County was reportedly the state's second death attributed to COVID-19.

Here are the number of coronavirus deaths by county, according to a spokesman for the governor:

  • 7 — Prince George's County
  • 4 — Montgomery County
  • 5 — Carroll County
  • 3 — Anne Arundel County
  • 3 — Baltimore County
  • 2 — Baltimore City as well as Frederick and Howard counties
  • 1 — Calvert, Charles and Wicomico counties
