Baltimore County Hosting Virtual Town Hall On Coronavirus
Leaders in Baltimore County will give updates on the coronavirus response and take questions from residents at the virtual town hall.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — Those who have questions for County Executive Johnny Olszewski can ask him Thursday evening during a virtual town hall meeting. The topic of the forum is COVID-19, the respiratory disease caused by the new coronavirus.
As of Thursday morning, 353 confirmed cases of the virus in Baltimore County have been reported to the Maryland Department of Health. Two Baltimore County residents, both men in their 60s, have died from the disease.
Olszewski requested assistance from the National Guard and said earlier this week that a member of the guard had been embedded into his emergency management team to assist with logistics planning. He also said he has been in frequent communication with the leaders of area hospitals as they prepare for a potential influx of coronavirus patients, speaking with them twice a week about ensuring they had enough hospital beds. He said this concern was part of why he reached out to the National Guard.

"I know this is a difficult time, and that our residents have many questions," Olszewski said Tuesday, at a news conference announcing the creation of a community fund to support those impacted by the coronavirus pandemic in Baltimore County. At that time, 227 people in Baltimore County had tested positive for COVID-19, meaning it has increased by more than 100 in the past two days.
Baltimore County Public Schools Superintendent Darryl Williams, Police Chief Melissa Hyatt and Health Officer Gregory Wm. Branch will join Olszewski and other county officials to update the public on the county's response to the new coronavirus.
They will also take questions and hear concerns from residents.
