Baltimore County Opens Parks, Fields, Bathrooms

Outdoor parks and amenities through Baltimore County are now open through the Baltimore County Recreation and Parks Department.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — More parks and amenities are open in Baltimore County, as local and state governments progress with reopening plans. While these areas are available for public use, people should still practice social distancing, Baltimore County government officials advised.

Dog parks, public restrooms, pavilions and other facilities have been closed in Baltimore County since the beginning of the spring, due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The following Baltimore County Department of Recreation and Parks facilities opened over the weekend:

  • Baseball diamonds
  • Basketball courts (installation of rims may take two weeks)
  • Dog parks
  • Fields
  • Horseshoe pits
  • Pavilions and picnic areas
  • RC/model plane areas
  • Restrooms in regional parks
  • Skate parks

"As the weather warms, more facilities will be open for recreational activities," officials said, "though residents should continue to be safe and practice social distancing."

Baltimore County entered stage two of reopening, in alignment with the governor's orders, on Friday, June 5. The reopening expanded to include some indoor dining, outdoor amusements and outdoor pool access Friday, June 12.

Gyms, malls and casinos are among the businesses that will be allowed to reopen starting Friday, June 19.
