MARYLAND — In the past day, 335 people tested positive for the coronavirus in Maryland, where approximately 7,500 negative test results were also reported.
Since the beginning of June, hospitalizations from the virus in Maryland are down more than 60 percent, according to state data.
There were 1,174 people hospitalized with the virus on June 1, compared with 446 patients June 28.

While those numbers are encouraging, the Adventist Health Care System told the Washington Post that the level of severity of the virus has not declined, with about one in five patients hospitalized dying from the virus at its facilities in Fort Washington, Shady Grove and White Oak.
And at Prince George's Hospital Center in Cheverly, the hospital's infectious disease chief told the Post 40 percent of hospitalized COVID-19 patients require critical care.

A total of 3,042 people have died from the coronavirus in Maryland, according to Maryland health officials.
There are 66,777 confirmed cases of the virus in the state, the Maryland Department of Health said Sunday. The state has conducted a total of 631,490 tests.
The Maryland Department of Health reported Saturday it was barring Advanced Pain Medicine Institute (APMI), based in Greenbelt from conducting coronavirus tests after a complaint led to the discovery of its lack of licensure.
The positivity rate is 4.89 percent on a rolling, seven-day average, according to state officials.
More than 450,000 negative test results have been recorded in Maryland, officials said Sunday.

This is an increase of 294 confirmed cases of the virus in nursing homes, group homes and assisted living facilities week to week. State and local facilities saw an increase of 130 cases since last week.
There have been 50 additional deaths in nursing homes, group homes and assisted living facilities since last week, the data shows.
