BCPS Closed To Students For 2 More Days Due To Ransomware Attack

Officials with Baltimore County Public Schools say they are working on a plan for instruction and devices. Student meals will be provided.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — After its system was the victim of a ransomware attack, Baltimore County Public Schools has canceled classes Monday and Tuesday.

School offices will be open for staff Monday and Tuesday as they establish a communication plan about devices and set up the instructional platform, according to Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS). However, students will not be expected to participate in virtual learning.

The school system first canceled classes Wednesday, Nov. 25, after a ransomware attack struck the network Tuesday evening, according to BCPS Executive Director of Information Technology Jim Corns.
