100 First Responders Got Moderna Vaccine At MD State Fairgrounds

LUTHERVILLE-TIMONIUM, MD — The Cow Palace at Maryland State Fairgrounds turned into a vaccination clinic Wednesday as 100 front-line health care workers and first responders got their shots to prevent the coronavirus. Those who received the vaccine had appointments scheduled in advance.

The first 100 doses of the Moderna vaccine in Baltimore County were distributed through the local health department.

"We are proud to announce that Renee Youngfellow, the Baltimore County Department of Health and Human Services director of clinical services, has received Baltimore County government’s first COVID-19 vaccine," the county reported Wednesday night.

Youngfellow has overseen Baltimore County's coronavirus testing.

"We’re grateful for all of her work throughout this pandemic," Baltimore County government said in a statement. "While we can see the light at the end of the tunnel, we must continue to stay vigilant and do all we can to keep our communities safe."

Front-line health care workers and first responders as well as nursing home residents and staff are in the first batch of people to receive the coronavirus vaccine, according to the state's vaccination plan.
