Carjacked Vehicle Hit Trash Truck, Closing I-695: Police

A car stolen in Rosedale hit a trash truck on I-695 near Pulaski Highway, according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

BALTIMORE COUNTY, MD — A carjacked vehicle and a trash truck were involved in a wreck that closed part of I-695 Thursday night, according to authorities.

One person was seriously injured, while two others were also hospitalized, officials said.

The wreck shut down the inner loop of the beltway for more than 30 minutes.

The car had been stolen from the 2000 block of Kelbourne Road at 6:42 p.m., according to the Baltimore County Police Department.

It ran into the trash truck near the exit for US 40/Pulaski Highway just after 7 p.m., police said.

One person had to be rescued and was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries, according to the Baltimore County Fire Department. The inner loop was closed at Route 40 during the emergency response.

Two suspects and the driver of the trash truck were taken to area hospitals, police said. Traffic was diverted off I-695 onto Pulaski Highway during the response. Police said their conditions were unknown.

Crews began to clear before 7:30 p.m., and traffic began moving on I-695 at the Route 40 exit after 7:45 p.m.

While the Coordinated Highways Action Response Team (CHART) initially said one vehicle was involved, officials reported later that two crashed.
