Fundraisers Set Up For Shooting Victims In Baltimore County

A married couple and a neighbor who were shot and killed last weekend have GoFundMe pages established to help their families.

WOODLAWN, MD — GoFundMe pages have been established to help the orphaned son of a married couple and the family of another man who were shot and killed Saturday by Everton Brown, 56. Brown was fatally shot by Baltimore County Police. Brown also set fire to his home and had homemade explosive devices in one of his vehicles.

Early Saturday morning, police received calls that Brown was shooting at people in his neighborhood and that a townhouse was on fire. When two neighbors emerged from their home, Brown shot them. Sagar Ghimire, 24, later died from the gunshot wound while the other gunshot victim is recovering from his injuries.

Brown burst into a neighbor's home at approximately 6:40 a.m. Saturday in the 7500 block of Maury Road, where he stabbed and shot Ismael Quintanilla, 41. As his wife, Sara Alacote, 37, ran from the home in an attempt to escape, Brown chased her outside, shooting her several times.

Gail Watts, a longtime resident of the neighborhood, told The Associated Press on Saturday that many in the neighborhood thought Brown was mentally ill. She said he was aggressive toward women and often accused neighbors of surveilling him, WBAL reported.

Brown would at times use a bullhorn to yell from his porch and would walk up and down the sidewalk with a gun, one neighbor told the Baltimore Sun. He spent weeks standing in front of the U.S. District Court building to demand a stop to "harassment" by federal authorities, and accused neighbors of working with the FBI to spy on him.

As the first responding officer arrived on the scene he came upon Brown in the parking lot and ordered Brown to drop his handgun numerous times. When Brown did not comply with the officer's orders, the officer fired his service weapon, police said. Four officers fired at Brown until they were able to safely take him into custody. Brown was taken to a hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

As of May 12, $23,282 had been raised out of the $35,000 goal for Ghimire and shooting victim Shyam Adhikari. Almost $23,000 has been raised out of a $50,000 goal for the Quintanillas and their surviving 17-year-old son.
