90-Degree Temps In MD Possible: National Weather Service

Summertime temperatures are in the forecast for Maryland this week, the National Weather Service advised.

MARYLAND — Although the sun may be setting earlier than usual as the start of fall approaches, forecasters say the summertime temperatures will reappear this week.

"For those who enjoy summer warmth, you're in luck as the entire work week will feature above normal temperatures," the National Weather Service reported Sunday morning.

Sunday is expected to bring hot conditions with potentially hazy skies as wildfire smoke from the west arrives. Temperatures will be in the upper 80s near 90 degrees in some parts of Maryland.

Degraded air quality from the wildfire smoke may be noticeable in the area until Tuesday when cloud cover obscures the haze, according to the Maryland Department of the Environment.

Temperatures could reach 90 degrees in the Baltimore-Washington area through Tuesday, based on the forecast. They are about 8 to 13 degrees above normal for this time of year, official say.

Typically, temperatures are around 79 degrees this time of year, based on National Weather Service data.

"A few daily temperature records may be approached, or even broken," the National Weather Service advised.

If you have to work during the week, forecasters say don't worry about missing out.

"It appears this will likely stick around until next weekend as well," officials said of the summer weather.
