Mathy Milling Downing shared this photo of two cats, Simba and Nala, staring down a "ferocious beast who had the nerve to trespass on our deck." The stand-off between the guard kitties and the squirrel lasted several minutes.

The last submission features a family who helped save a hiker. The 72-year-old man fell down a steep hill on Feb. 27 at Patapsco Valley State Park near Catonsville. The family helped the hiker back to the parking lot, called 911 and ran across the park to find the ranger.

The ranger took this picture of the rescuing family after medics cared for the man. From left to right, the photo shows Sam Pellerito, Mark Allbritton, Michelle Allbritton and Emma Pellerito.
