Memorial Day Weather: Will It Rain This Weekend In Maryland?

MARYLAND — Memorial Day is on Monday, May 30. That brings cookouts and relaxation on the water.

Residents should check the weather before making plans, however. Maryland may get some showers this weekend.

Storms could roll in Thursday and pester the state on and off through Saturday. There's still uncertainty on when the rain will arrive.

Thursday may only bring sprinkles. The clouds will carry enough water by Friday to rain up to 1.75 inches, the National Weather Service said in its forecast discussion.

Thunderstorms may start Friday and last through Saturday. A second round of rain may follow later Saturday before storms leave the area.

Sunday and Monday should offer blue skies.

Thursday will bring a high in the low 70s to central Maryland. The highs will hover around 80 degrees from Friday through Sunday. The temperature could reach 85 degrees on Memorial Day.

The forecast for Ocean City is posted at the bottom of this story. The precipitation will be fairly similar at the beach, but Ocean City could see consistent highs around 70.

BWI Weather

The National Weather Service released this forecast for Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport in Linthicum.

Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 70. East wind around 9 mph.

Wednesday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 58. East wind 5 to 7 mph.

Thursday: A chance of showers. Cloudy, with a high near 73. East wind 6 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Thursday Night: A chance of showers, mainly after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 66. South wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Friday: A chance of showers before 11am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11am and 2pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 2pm. High near 80. South wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 23 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Friday Night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm, mainly before 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am. Low around 63. Chance of precipitation is 80%.

Saturday: A chance of showers, with thunderstorms also possible after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 78. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Saturday Night: A chance of thunderstorms before 8pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 60. Chance of precipitation is 30%.

Sunday: Sunny, with a high near 81.

Sunday Night: Mostly clear, with a low around 63.

Memorial Day: Sunny, with a high near 85.

Tuesday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 88.

Thursday: Patchy drizzle with a chance of light rain before 8am, then a chance of light rain between 8am and noon, then a slight chance of rain after noon. Cloudy, with a high near 65. East wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 64. South wind around 14 mph.

Friday: A chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 70. Breezy, with a south wind 18 to 22 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.

Friday Night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms before 8pm, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 8pm and 2am, then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2am.
