Anne Arundel County officials are investigating what caused a fire that destroyed a Lothian barn; one person was taken to the hospital.

LOTHIAN, MD — A barn in rural Lothian was destroyed in a fire early Wednesday, and a resident at the site was taken to the hospital, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department. A caller reported a barn on fire in the 5700 block of Pindell Road in Lothian just after 3:05 a.m.

Responders found a 10-foot by 16-foot shed located almost a mile off the roadway had burned to the ground. Firefighters from Anne Arundel, Prince George’s and Calvert counties extinguished the fire in less than 20 minutes.

A resident at the property was taken to Anne Arundel Medical Center for a non-life-threatening medical emergency, officials say.
