Man Slashed By Boat's Propeller When He Hits Sand Bar

He's being treated for injuries in Baltimore hospital, says Anne Arundel County Police Department.

EDGEWATER, MD — A 53-year-old man is recovering from serious injuries he received after he fell out of his boat Wednesday evening and was hit by the watercraft's propeller, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.

Firefighters responded to the report of an injured person just after 9 p.m. Wednesday in the 1000 block of Carrs Wharf Road, the fire department said in a statement. They found the unidentified man, who was injured when the boat he was operating struck a sand bar in the Rhode River.

The injured man told paramedics that he was thrown from the boat and suffered lacerations from making contact with the vessel’s propeller. A Maryland State Police medevac helicopter flew the man to the R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with injuries "that were serious but apparently non-life threatening." the fire department said.
