South River's boys lacrosse team beat Westminster High 10-8 in a dramatic come-from-behind victory after being down 7-0.

won its second Class 4A/3A Maryland state lacrosse championship in four years Wednesday afternoon in dramatic fashion—beating Westminster High with a final score of 10-8 after initially falling behind 7-0.

Westminster scored seven straight goals to start the game, but then South River scored eight unanswered goals, taking the lead after halftime in a remarkable comeback.

In the third quarter, and Westminster were tied 8-8 until the Seahawks scored a late goal to go into the fourth quarter with a 9-8 lead. All-American Ben Chisolm scored his second goal of the day with 6:51 left in the game, putting the Seahawks up by two goals, 10-8.

It would be all they needed as solid defense kept Westminster off the score sheet for the remainder of the game. After an almost two-hour delay because of thunder and rain, South River solidified the victory after the game restarted with just 2:33 left in the matchup.

The state championship is head coach and in four years.
