Midnight Madness is returning to Ellicott City on Dec. 7 and it promises the same holiday charm as usual ... and maybe some surprises.

Festivities begin at 4 p.m. where, until 8 p.m. kids can meet with Santa at the historic Thomas Isaac Log Cabin on upper Main Street.

At 6 p.m. County Council member Courtney Watson will light a Christmas Tree in front of the Howard County Tourism Center. Then, residents and visitors can wine, dine, shop and be merry until midnight.

Some Historic District merchants will host open houses and run special discounts for this one-night-a-year event, sponsored by the Ellicott City Business Association.

Expect live music from the Mt. Hebron High School Madrigals, the Pride of Baltimore Chorus, the Heart of Maryland Barbershop Chorus and the Churches of Ellicott City Choir.

Even Elvis may be strutting his stuff on Main Street.

Easy parking will be available at the Circuit Court, and a free shuttle will run between its lot, the Howard County Government Complex parking lot, and Main Street.

And the newly launched Parker application can provide users with real-time information about available parking spaces in the Historic District.
